Bodhisattva Seated In Meditation

During the korean arts buddhism developed there in 372 ce. However, by the late six century korean style sculptors created their own style. This is why I find this sculpture so beautiful. I love the way this art shows character by the way the hand is shown by the face. This also ties with the pose of the sculpture as well ; its thin body figure and the crown on top of the head describes the korean style of art. I also love the way the elegant draped folds along the bottom half of its body. To me this sculpture is in a calm like state and i quite find it very interesting. The height of this sculpture is 35.8 inches. To me, i wonder what it's like to see this in person. I mean this is very incredible.

  1. The way the folds of the cloth are juxtaposed with the smoothness of the skin is the most interesting part of this piece for me. He does indeed look very contemplative.

  2. I love the personality this sculpture seems to have. It really looks like he is lost deep in thought yet at the same time seems so relaxed in this state.
