I had choose this piece to talk about to day in this blog because even though this is a dark image, it shows different levels of emotions. I can not truly say i went through the emotional grief of losing a son so precious to her, but i can see how she is feeling at that moment. This picture above is so meaningful to me. Look at the way she is holding her son and the way her hands are around his lifeless body as she looks down at him. In her face, i can see anger, sadness, hurt, and the question of why it happened to him. You can also see the that they both connect in this image by their lifeless poses. Having Jesus with his head bent over tells us that he is dead. Also the Virgin's pose is slumped over which means that she is lifeless as well. I love this image to me, it shows raw emotions.
I also choose this piece of art. I agree with everything you said. The piece gives different levels of emotions. It showed the grief that she was in when she lost her son. I would hate to be holding my child after they were dead. I also put different pictures that I liked better of this piece that makes Jesus look more human and showed emotion of Mary's face.
ReplyDeleteThis is such an emotional image. Though not pretty to look at, it cannot help but bring the viewer to a response.
