I have found this cup very amusing to me. Even though i love gold, i love the way this cup was made. This cup was found in Sparta,Greece approximately 1650-1450 B.C. As you can see from the image on the left, there are men trying to catch bulls in many different ways. I think this cup is amusing to me because it's very different from other arts that i have ever seen before. I can imagine me holding this cup and just looking at the art put into this cup. However, the texture of this cup seems to be very smooth and the amount of gold that they were dealing with. As i learned about this image i read that the handle was put on with rivets, which are pins that hold metal together and the cup was lined with sheets of gold. This is a great piece of art history and im glad to see it.
I love the dimensionality of this cup as well. It would certainly have started good conversation around the table if you had served something in it to friends.
